About Barbara

Barbara Manning is a San Francisco and Los Altos based real estate broker known for her expertise in the Bay Area market. She started her career in real estate as a graduate student in Connecticut.  Her first real estate investment was a small apartment building in Willimantic and her success is one of the many reasons she has made real estate her passion since 2007.  Barbara moved to the Bay Area in the early '90s and immediately fell in love with the area.  She earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science and worked in leadership positions for Silicon Valley technology companies, including Hewlett Packard. While working at HP, Barbara attended the executive MBA program at Stanford University. This experience gave her a keen eye for detail and the ability to negotiate with people of all backgrounds.

Selling and buying a home in the Bay Area is a large financial transaction that requires binding contracts. Barbara is recognized in this industry for her ability to break down contracts and showcase them in a simplified way. "I help my sellers avoid common pitfalls and minimize risk with details that are often overlooked. Similarly, when working with buyers, I read all the disclosures prior to the meeting and point out red flags."  This is why many of her clients are referral-based and her repeat clients seek her advice on all their real estate investments. She is passionate about helping first-time buyers find their home in San Francisco as well as helping my senior clients and empty nesters transition to a more manageable home.

Barbara divides her time between San Francisco and Los Altos. She loves to read, paint and lead a balanced healthy lifestyle. She is an avid hiker and participates in several half-marathons each year. Barbara has either ran or walked every inch of this beautiful place we call home.
